Biography*
She suffered from a leg injury or deformity at an early age which caused her leg to stiffen. She never had the necessary surgery to correct the problem, therefore she was lame most of her life. She walked with a cane for many years. She always said that the wooden cane that she used was a cane that her father got at the Will County Fair in Peotone, IL. She would use that cane not only to walk but to help her get her shoes on and pick things up off the floor. She lived at home with her mother for many years at the Lamping home at 607 Plainfield Avenue in Joliet, IL. In 1972, they sold this house and moved into an apartment on Bethel Drive in Joliet. A few years later, when they both needed more care, they lived with Mary's sister Kathleen Pullman until her mother died in 1979. At this time Mary moved into St. Patrick Residence, a Catholic Nursing Home in Joliet, IL, where she lived until her death. Mary was a very religious woman, and the Church played a big part in her life. She was a member of St. Raymond Cathedral all of her life.
