Cornelis Spijk was recorded a member of the 'Hervormde Kerk', Haaft, 5 March 1730. Where he came from was not mentioned. According to the book 'lidmaten Herv kerk (boek 264)' the family arrived between 21 and 28 April 1737 from Haaften and resided Noordcingel. In the place Didam, Kornelis was named Corneelis Spick, son of Johannes Spick from 's GravenHage (=Den Haag). (Dutch: In the akte van idemniteit steldt de burgemeester van Den Haag zich garant voor het gezin: zij mogen evt. bij verval naar armoede weer terugkeren naar Den Haag.
