Due to Diabetes Insepedeas (water diabetes), he spent most of his time in the hospital and was given a medical discharge from the Service in September 1941. Ed met his third wife, Virginia, in Portland, OR where he was working for the Greyhound Bus Company. Virginia was working as an information supervisor for Pacific Telephone. They were married a year later in Stevenson, Washington. They resided in Alderwood Manor, WA for 14 years and operated a small mink ranch. Ed received a serious back injury while working for Greyhound and was forced into retirement after twenty years with the company. In 1964 the family sold their mink ranch and moved to Whittier, CA. Since moving to Whittier, Ed keeps busy as Umpire-in-Chief for the Rancho Gertrudes A.S.A. Soft Ball and other community activities. Virginia works as a clerk for the Whittier Post Office. Besides their home in Whittier, they have investments in rental property. |
