Biography* | | At the age of 14, John could not get his Union Card to do electrical work in the United States so he went to Canada to get it and then returned to the States. At one point he went to work in Northern California, perhaps at the time of the San Francisco earthquake. He was one of the early members of the IBEW, Local #9. He was a quiet man who enjoyed summer trips to Hayward, WI, where his daughter, Dorothy and her husband, Larry Brogan had a cabin. He was a great fan of bowling (he was in several leagues) and loved to watch Boxing on television. He enjoyed working with his hands and would build anything you asked for in his well-equipped shop in his basement. He was a very generous man and had a special soft spot in his heart for his grandchildren. He would give each of them an old silver dollar on their birthdays to celebrate each year of life. He would also stand up for them when they needed something and others wouldn't give it to them. |
