Biography* | | George had a family in Adams county and moved to Allegheny city in the early part of the present century, where he died, and where some of his descendants lived until lately, who called themselves Lampton, because the Lambing was too "Dutch". [Robert Franklin Lamping: I think Dutch was ment to be "Deutsch" the german word for German. In German dutch is called "Holländisch". As the family spoke German for a long time I think this Dutch was ment to be German.] George Jacob went by the name Jacob. This is also the name the aunts and uncle of Warren George Lambing recall. Warren told me that the transcriber of the church records wrote James every time Jacob was in the text. Strange but true. |
